This is a registered trademark produced in Asia, under a rigorous quality control. The range of yarns varies between the 20Den and the 1120Den.
On the 20Den, there are two qualities: "Bright" or "Clear" and "Semi-dull", being:
a) The Bright / Clear is a translucent yarn with a light brightness. The principal advantage of this yarn is the transparency of the same in articles where the percentage of spandex is high (like the case of the covering). This yarn is also used in circular machines.
b) The semi-dull is a yarn that normally, has a higher cost, but is indicated to work with opaque yarns because of its non brightness and therefore combining better with the complementary yarn. After the knit dyeing, the light brightness normally seen in the spandex, is no longer seen.
This trademark has also the Oeko-Tex certificate guarantee of innocuity to harmful substances and with danger for the wellbeing.
TECHNICAL CONDITIONS ON USING THE KOLSPAN SPANDEX YARN.
1. Models and Lot numbers:
Do not mix lot numbers. Using yarns of different lot numbers may cause serious defects on the final articles.
2. Temperature and Humidity:
It's very important to maintain temperature and humidity without any change.
Optimum temperature should be 25ºC ± 5ºC, relative humidity is to be 65% ± 5%.
At least 24 hours is required for yarns to be placed in production site so that yarns acquire the temperature and humidity similar as of the place of work.
3. Other cautions to be taken:
a) Not to mix yarns with big differences in production dates.
b) Correct adjustment of drawing percentage.
c) Requirement for temperature and humidity should be met.
II. DYEING AND FINISHING CONDITIONS:
(In case of doubt please contact Fimatex)
When used together with polyamide, polyester and viscose fiber, suggestion for ingredients of scouring solvent:
* Anionic active agent 1 – 2g/L
* Sodium polyphosphenate 1 – 2g/L
* Temperature 50 – 80g/L
* Time 30 – 60 min
Spandex and cotton mixed woven or knit fabrics should avoid high-temperature scouring.
For Spandex mixed fabrics quantity of bleaching agent should be reduced as much as possible. Chloride varieties of bleaching agents are prohibited to be used.
Vat bleaching agents are suggested to be used. For fabric mixed with cotton, quantity of alkali should be reduced, bleaching be done with hydrogen peroxide under constant pressure.
As spandex yarns are covered or cored inside of cotton, nylon and other fibers, sometimes used together with other fibers. So choice of dyestuffs is usually made according to the base fiber composition, without too much consideration to spandex yarns, except when dyed for dark colour.
For example, when It coexist with nylon and to be dyed for dark color, suitable quantity of disperse dyestuff needs to be added.
4. Heat Setting:
Heat setting conditions:
a) The temperature for dry heat setting should not exceed 185ºC within 30 seconds.
b) The temperature for wet heat setting should not exceed 125ºC within 40 seconds.
For initial use we suggest test be made with 180ºC for dry heat setting and 120ºC for wet heat setting before decision making.
